As Ewald Kohlschein was writing the opening balance of the sole proprietorship “Ewald Kohlschein – EKA-Plattenfabrik” he surely could not have known how the company would develop over the coming decades.

In 1933 Ewald Kohlschein started making glued boards, which he called Eka wood pulp board – which even today, in an improved form is suitable for today's needs, still forms part of our product palette.

In 1950, the sole proprietorship was changed to a KG (limited partnership). Ewald Kohlschein became a general partner and his daughter Walburg Kohlschein and Gisela Höflich became limited partners. In 1957, Ewald Kohlschein's son-in-law Theodor Höflich was taken on as a general partner.

Following Ewald Kohlschein's death, Theodor Höflich took over the management of the firm in 1958. Along with producing Eka wood pulp board and KROMA® Displayboard, business activities extended to trading in various card and sheet materials over the following years, such as KAPA® lightweight foam boards. Furthermore, customer processing services such as laminating, stamping, cutting etc. were offered.

In 1980 the KG became a GmbH & Co. KG (limited partnership) to enable a change of leadership. To this purpose the partners set up a GmbH (company with limited liability) and then entered KOHLSCHEIN GmbH & Co. KG as general partners. Theodor Höflich became managing director of the GmbH and in 1984 Michael Höflich was taken on as another managing director of the GmbH. And so the Höflich family led the company into its third generation.

Our extensive experience in producing and processing cardboard and board material led to us entering the display market in 1984. Our expertise in design, development and processing of customised merchandising presentation materials, helped our customers' brands and products to be efficiently and effectively supported.
